Caravans Earn Grammy, Soul Train, Dove, Stellar Nominations
Jackson, MS. January 8, 2007- The Year 2007 was a 'stellar' year for The Caravans and the debut of their forty-year reunion CD, Paved The Way. Adding to this years' Grammy, Soul Train, and Dove nominations are three possible awards for the 2008 Stellar Awards: CD of the Year, Traditional Group/Duo of the Year, and Traditional CD of the Year. The Stellar Awards will be held on January 12, 2008 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. Hosts for this prestigious event are CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin and Byron Cage.
At the request of original member, Dorothy Norwood, Albertina Walker (long-time friend and founding member of The Caravans), Inez Andrews and Delores Washington reunited to record both classic Caravans hits and original music for the album produced by Norwood. Paved The Way remained on the Billboard Album Charts for over 22 weeks, peaking at #7.
Norwood, never one to rest on her laurels, recently released another self-produced solo project to add to her arsenal: No Request. Both the CD and DVD of No Request, recorded live in Jackson, Mississippi with the internationally renowned Mississippi Mass Choir, are in stores now.

DOROTHY NORWOOD UPDATE
Jackson, MS- Award-winning legendary artist, Dorothy Norwood (Malaco), released No Request on October 2, 2007, the album was recorded live in Jackson, Mississippi, with the internationally renowned Mississippi Mass choir (Malaco). Guest artist Mosie Burks (Mississippi Mass Choir) is featured on "I Believe" the CDs first radio single.
CD release parties, concerts and signing events were held in November at the Captain Hard Time Restaurant in Chicago, IL, The Word of Deliverance Church in Cincinnati, OH and at the Word and Worship Church in Jackson, MS. Pam Morris from the city of Chicago presented a congratulatory citation to Norwood from Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Norwood performed a mini concert and Bishop Hilton joined her on the title cut, "No Request." The Caravans closed the party by singing their hit single "Remember Me" from their 2007 reunion CD of the same name. In Cincinnati, Norwood performed a church service concert for 2,000 people and appeared on the Buzz Radio show with Bobby Hilton.
Norwood's gospel music career and ministry has spanned more nearly five decades and she has enjoyed great success. Stand on the Word, her previous solo release, enjoyed a long run in the top 15 on Billboard's Top Gospel Album Charts and "Praise in the Temple (It's Service Time)" was featured as a Top Ten Billboard Gospel Song of the Year. Norwood has earned multiple nominations in every major award distinction in the industry including the Grammies, Stellars, Dove and Soul Train Awards.

Independent Malaco Hits Year End Billboard Charts
Multiple Mentions for Artists, Producers, Label
Jackson, MS. January 3, 2008- Malaco Music Group enjoyed a successful year on the Billboard Nielsen SoundScan charts with The Caravans’(Malaco Records) reunion album, Paved The Way, landing at #49 on the Top Gospel Charts; three artists’ singles made it to the Hot Gospel Songs year end charts: Maurette Brown-Clark’s (AIR Gospel) “One God” at #14, “You Keep On Blessing Me” by Luther Barnes & The Red Budd Gospel Choir (AIR Gospel) landed at #19, and The Caravans, “Remember Me” came in at #23. Malaco proper came in at #4 for label with hottest gospel songs, claiming eight titles on the charts and Hot Gospel Producers included Asaph Alexander Ward at #9 for his work with Maurette Brown-Clark and at #11, Luther Barnes for his work with the Red Budd Gospel Choir.
In 2007, Paved The Way (The Caravans, Malaco) peaked at #7 on the Top Gospel Albums Charts and The Caravans spent a good portion of the year touring and promoting their reunion release, appearing at award shows and enjoying Dove and Stellar Award nominations for their outstanding work in Gospel music. Maurette Brown-Clark is currently enjoying her runaway radio hit, "One God" with thirty-six weeks on the singles charts and sitting firmly in the #2 position. Luther Barnes recently released Christmas with Luther Barnes and still enjoys airplay on his 2005 release, Somehow, Someway.

OPEN 2008 TV-ONE SEASON
Jackson, MS. December 19, 2007- The Supreme Angels are slated to take part in a Tribute to Gospel Greats, which will feature Slim & the Supreme Angels for Jeff Major’s hit television program, The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors on TV-One. Oliver Beach Productions, LLC, producers of Majors’ show, recently announced the 2008 lineup for their fifth season kick-off event. Other artists participating in the event include gospel icon Kirk Franklin, Shirley Murdock, God’s Chosen, and harpist Jeff Majors. This season premiere will air Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Cable listings should be checked locally; however Direct TV airs the program on Channel 241. A repeat episode will air on Sunday, January 20 at noon.
In 2006, legendary group Slim and the Supreme Angels signed with Malaco Records, releasing The Judgement on March of 2007. Though saddened by the loss of founding member Howard Hunt, a.k.a. Slim, in 2007, the group’s decision to continue singing gospel music was unanimous.
Slim and the Supreme Angels plays mostly on concert stages, touring continually throughout the year. Their ‘can’t stop now’ mentality has helped them earn a 2008 Stellar Award Nomination for their 2007 Malaco release, The Judgement, and has also made them the quartet to watch in upcoming months.
The group’s accomplishments are many and include participating in the gospel super-hit SoulLink Live by the Williams Brothers, and by being key members of the Malaco Records Yes! Quartet campaign.

Mississippi Mass Choir ‘Cracks’ Gospel Charts
Jackson, MS– The Mississippi Mass Choir’s first live Christmas CD, We Have Seen His Star, released October 16, 2007, cracks the top 50 in sales for the week of December 15, 2007, making it a ‘Hot Shot Debut’ according to Nielsen Soundscan reports.
Traditional buyers continue to prove their buying power as they consistently demand traditional gospel music, from choirs to quartets; Malaco Music Group is proving they are listening by continuing to produce and support top notch traditional gospel music.
