Urban Inspirations Brings New Era To Television Programming
Jackson, MS. May 29, 2008--D.A. Johnson, Director of Malaco's Gospel Division has produced a new television program, making his entrance into the televsion market with new programming in the gospel music format. The program Urban Inspirations utilizes programming similar to American Bandstand. In 2003, Johnson taped a one hour television pilot entitled Urban Inspirations (UI) which was taped and hosted by world-renowned, five time Stellar Award winner, recording artist and syndicated radio host, TONEX and fresh face of Howard University graduate Lisa Robinson; video of the week segment was hosted by Washington DC's distinguished youth pastor, Reverend Tony Lee. UI also featured live performances by PAJAM's Music World / Columbia recording artists RAMIYAH and independent Hip Hop artist King Solomon.
UI was developed to assist in cultivating and propelling Urban Gospel, a growing genre of music, directly into the mainstream while preserving it's roots in connection with traditional gospel music. In the spirit of the longest running television shows in the history of television such as Soul Train and American Bandstand, to more modern day youthful shows such as Teen Summit and 106 & Park, UI will feature live performances from chart topping artists, dancers, fashion, music videos, trivia games and discussions on topics that affect today's youth as well as highlighting music that is spiritually based; uplifting and inspiring.
Creator & Executive Producer, D.A. Johnson states, "'Urban Inspirations is a vision I had over ten years ago. Knowing the direction that Gospel Music was heading I realized that for the current generation of Gospel music artists to be successful, they needed a formidable national platform to showcase their contributions to the masses. This platform is television and the program is Urban Inspirations. It is my prayer that UI will become instrumental in perpetuating the urban inspirational music genre in the same ways the the Arsenio Hall Show helped the Urban Hip Hop genre to be wildly successful in the nineties."
