STELLAR NOMINATED CHOIR RELEASES PROJECT
Billy Rivers & The Angelic Voices of Faith
Live From Memphis, Let’s Celebrate (AIR Records)
Jackson, MS. November 7, 2006-AIR Gospel, home to award-winning artists Dottie Peoples and Luther Barnes & The Red Budd Gospel Choir, announces the release of a new project under the administration of The Malaco Music Group.
Billy Rivers and The Angelic Voices of Faith are slated to release this week Let’s Celebrate: Live in Memphis due to its far-reaching demand on gospel radio.
The group is recognized as Dottie People’s choir on her latest AIR release, Live In Memphis, He Said It, which garnered Peoples a Stellar Award in 2006. Peoples performed the hit single, “He Said It,” with the choir for the televised award show.
“Let’s Celebrate (Worship Christ),” a signature song for the choir, was recorded on their new album and released to radio in the Memphis, TN area. Program Director for KJMS/WHAL radio, Eileen Collier, makes it a practice to promote local talent, so she put the single in regular rotation giving the group a big break as the single became an instant hit.
Other stations followed suit, such as WLOK in Memphis. “Let’s Celebrate” is a lively, upbeat gospel hit that gives God the glory!” states Kim Harper, Program Director. “It is the kind of spiritual song that evokes you to give God the praise and celebrate His goodness...a definite add for gospel stations everywhere!”

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:
THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS
Leon “Pop” Williams put together a trio in 1960 that would eventually become a household name and ‘live’ legend in gospel music, The Williams Brothers.
The original group was comprised of Leon, his son Melvin and Henry Green. Doug Williams joined the group at a later date and the latter three still tour today.
Henry Green is the eldest of fifteen children, and was born and raised in Mississippi, not far from McComb, home to the Williams Brothers. He began singing in the church choir as a young boy and was ‘discovered’ by Pop who invited him to harmonize with he and his son Melvin. The rest is history!
The group has performed at Madison Square Garden, The Apollo Theatre, The Grand Ole Opry, The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and The House of Blues as well as overseas. They have garnered three Grammy Award nominations and won numerous Stellar Awards, GMWA Awards, and have received other recognitions throughout their career.
Each member attributes their success to their parents and their faith. “It goes back to our roots, to our mothers and fathers,” states Green. “We grew up in the South, in the country. Back then, no matter what you did on Saturday night, no matter what movie you saw or how late you stayed out, you had to go to church on Sunday morning. There wasn’t any ‘I don’t want to’ or ‘I don’t like going to church.’ You went to church. Not only did you go to church, your parents took you and when you got there, you acted right.”
Green’s first solo project single, “My Story,” has been in the top twenty for almost as many weeks. The Williams Brother’s current single, “Be There,” has enjoyed the same success.
