Tammy Edwards & The Edwards Sisters

One of God's anoited and chosen female groups known on the East Coastand by faith, soon to be known all over the world: The Edwards Sisters: Tammy-Lead vocalist, Tonia-Soprano vocalist, Tonette-Baritone vocalist, Taliah-Alto vocalist have traveled the East Coast and limited parts of the country spreading the message of Jesus Christ in song for over 30 years.

In the early 1970's, as little tots, God anointed them to sing his praises. Thier father, James, a guitarist and member of the gospel group, The Rock Island Singers, often carried the girls and their cousin Wanda with him on programs and let them perform during the offering time. Their mother Diana was always and still now, there to coach them along.

In the early 1980's cousins Phyllis and Sharon joined the group. Later Sharon ventured out to pursue other intrest. Through the years cousins and friends came and left but Tammy, Tonia, Tina, Tonette, Phyllis managed to stay together. During this time the group recorded locally their first single "I Love The Lord." In 1987 a second recording was recorded called "Jesus Never Fails." The circle was broken November 9, 1990 when God called home their next to baby sister "Tina" at the age of 22 years old. The group suffered a tremendous loss, but God brought them through it. In 1993 another recording was made in memory of "Tina" titled "I Made A Vow." Tonia's daughter Taliah was recently added to the group and is a blessing with the youthfulness of her sound and vocal talents.

In 1995, God opened doors for the group to venture out on a higher level. That is when "Edward Sisters Live" was recorded in Greensville, North Carolina and later released on the "Vital Records" label, a subsidiary of Big Mo Records, Maryland. In 1999, The Edwards Sisters were invited to Las Vegas, Nevada for a taping of the Bobby Jones Show. October, 2003 God opened another door. The Edwards Sisters was signed with Firstlite Records, Hartsville, South Carolina. In 2005 another recording was done and released called "Push". The Edwards Sisters are currently signed with Four Winds Label of Malaco Records.

The Edward Sisters have been blessed to appear on the same stage during the same setting with some of America's finest gospel artists such as: The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Pastor Shirley Ceaser, The Williams Brothers, Kirk Franklin, Albertina Walker, The Gospel Keynotes, The Volinaires, Vicki Winans, Lee Williams and Dr. Bobby Jones just to name a few.

Numerous awards have been received, including the Dawson Awards hosted by Dr. Bobby Jones and two-times awarded at the NC Announcers Guild as Female Quartet of the year.
