Greg Hoover

Greg Hoover

A newcomer to gospel music in 1998, Greg Hoover gathered together a community of gospel voices in Charlotte, North Carolina to create the group, Greg Hoover and the Charlote Community Singers. Their first project for Malaco Records, It's Gonna Be Alright, quickly established this dynamic group as one of the freshest new choirs to hit the national gospel scene.

Their original core group of seven members grew to a substantial thirty voice ensemble comprised of all ages within the community. Celebrate, the second release on the Malaco imprint for this ministry focused choir, delivers a nice blend of contemporary soulful sounds and smooth down home rhythms. It was released in 2000.

Recorded live at the University Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, Celebrate is a joyous celebration of faith and song with a unique blend of contemporary gospel and praise and worship stylings. The choir was directed by songwriter Greg Hoover and produced by Slack Johnson. Special guests include Sharon Hoover, soloist LaJuene Thompson (wife of Cedric Thompson), son Mario on percussion and freinds Christopher Brinson and The Ensemble on the Christmas cut "O Come Let Us Adore Him."
