In the fall of 1992, the Lord gave Minister Charles Woolfork the vision for a radical new change in his ministry: To create a youth music ministry that would take the nation by storm.
At the 1993 Gospel Music Workshop of America in Indianapolis, Indiana, the vision took flight and Woolfork and his "Praise Company" sang God's praises with a powerful energy. The group made such an astounding impression that the Benson Music Group signed them to their first recording contract. Produced by the mega-talented legend, Fred Hammond, the group's first album enjoyed national success and landed the new singers high on the Billboard and Gospel Today music charts.
After changing the group's name to Charles Woolfork & The Praise Covenant Choir, the group traveled the country with the same fiery anointing they possessed at the GMWA in Indianapolis. It wasn't long before invitations to perform with major gospel music artists such as Kirk Franklin and The Williams Brothes came pouring in. They are also considered show favorites on BET's Teen Summit and with The BobbyJones Gospel Show.
The group left the Benson Music Group in 1997 to record with Marxan Records, an Independent label. Initially distributed through Blackberry records, the group released The Secong Coming, which was produced by Woolfork. Of the project, Woolfork states, "I really feel it is special in more ways than one. These young people have invested so much of themselves in this vision, which is the culmination of a lot of pain, heartbreak, sweat and tears. There were many times we wanted to just give up and walk away, but the Lord wasn't ready to give up on us. When we were at our weakest point, God would come in and strengthen us, making us better. This is what we want people who hear this recording to feel; to know they are loved and that God is in the process of making them over and bringing them to the point of completion. The time of their "Second Coming" or greater emergence is near and they can take heart in knowing that God is able, in any situation!"
