Blues Compilations

For more than four decades, Malaco Records has been home to some of the most renown names in recorded music. Well known as the label to go to for hot Delta blues, steamy jazz and soul-stirring gospel, Malaco has been dubbed by the inner circle of blues and R&B fans as the 'Last Soul Company' and deservedly so.

The blues catalog is as deep as its history is long and the compilation CDs the company has put together reflect that point. Artists found on the compilation CDs include the great King of blues, B.B. King, the magnificent voice of Bobby Bland, songwriter/vocalist Denise LaSalle, Dorothy Moore (famous for such cuts as "Misty Blue" and "Funny How Time Slips Away"), the versatile soulster Johnny Taylor, sultry Latimore, Texas-born singer Z.Z. hill, and many others.

Some of the cuts that are found on these historic blues compilations include B.B. King's classic, "Sweet Litttle Angel," which he wrote and recorded in the sixties, peaking at #6 on the Black Singles Charts, Dorothy Moore's firey hit, "Misty Blue," which not only climbed to the #2 slot on the Black Singles chart, but crossed over into pop shooting up to the #3 position on the Pop Singles chart and Johnny Taylor's 1984 hit, "Lady My Whole World is You."
